Email lost after Windows 7 roll back

I installed Windows 10 earlier this week onto my Windows 7 vaio laptop. After a couple of days and a few problems with existing programs not working correctly I decided to roll back to Windows 7 until I had enough free time to research and sort out the problems. I used the "go back to seven" tool on the wiindows 10 installer.
Now I find that athough my Windows Live email Inbox is OK I have lost all my other folders chief concern is my "sent email" and a "Storage "folder.
Email provider is Sky (Yahoo) and I have checked my account online but the folders there are empty too
Is it possible to restore these emails , or are they gone forever?
I have tried the usual paths: user/local/microsoft/windowslive and the folders therein are empty. A search for .eml files brings no results either
Any other suggestions please ?

Sony are advising not to update Vaio machines. That said I have no problems on mine.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Not sure if this will work as I don't know if windows 10 upgrade deletes restore points upon upgrade but see if you have any old restore points that you could roll back to.
Make sure you are not connected to the internet if trying this as your email may be set up as IMAP in which case it will sync with the empty folders already on the email server and wipe the emails off your local machine.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

The upgrade HAS deleted my restore points it seems. nothing on the machine prior to Windows 10

I guess searching for "storage" (hidden) didn't show up anything either?
Yes I've tried that pathway... I have the folders but theyre empty and dated after the 10 upgrade
My own fault...I had intended to make an image of my HDD and full backup before doing the upgrade but got carried away and forgot. Grr.0 -
Oh , I hadn't heard that. never mind too late now, my own fault.
Thanks for your reply
I doubt it's related to your email, it's that VAIO corporation (no longer owned by Sony) doesn't have certain hardware drivers ready and unlikely to until October at the least for machines that shipped with W8.
Request a restoration attempt

Sony are a minority shareholder and have an exclusive marketing agreement. It's Sony who are giving the update advice. I doubt the other owners of VAIO corp. (an investment firm) have any idea about drivers etc....;)Fightsback wrote: »I doubt it's related to your email, it's that VAIO corporation (no longer owned by Sony) doesn't have certain hardware drivers ready and unlikely to until October at the least for machines that shipped with W8.

Thank you for the link....I'm going to save it in case I need it in the future...
meanwhile.. disaster ( or considerable inconvenience) has been averted.
Six months ago I installed an SSD in my vaio and kept the old one in an enclosure as backup and extra storage. I've just put the old one back into the vaio and it has downloaded all my emails for the last six months and also has the missing folders along with their contents. So I'm happy.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.0 -
