UK: How do I accept money with a Crowdfunding online system

Hello, I hope you guys are alright. I am not sure this is the right place for this kind of questions but I see hundreds of money experts here and since I don't know anything about that I am here asking for some help.

I am a web developer and I have been asked to set up a crowdfunding page for a client.

The client is a piano manufacturer, and the project aims to collect donations for some schools in the UK so that they can buy a piano for the students.

Basically every school is going to have its own page where the people can donate with a credit card and the school will then receive the funds on its account. With this money they will buy the piano.

The application has been initially developed to work with PayPal, but the problem is that paypal has a donation limit of £10.000. Also I am not sure if a school can receive donations as it's not a charity.

You can donate up to a whole piano, which costs more about £150.000.

The question is: how can we regularly move such a huge amount of money online? Is it legal if we set up a system to accept credit cards on the page so the money will go straight to the school's bank account without using any third party services like PayPal or SagePay?
Also, is it legal?

no chance of using a site like justgiving? so long as the school is a not for profit school you should be fine. (I think!)

Thanks for the hint Plunt, this could work actually as they even offer the API so that we can integrate the system in our page.

I am going to have a look at this thanks a lot!


@boo_star thanks to you as well, unfortunately the client wants to host the system on its own page and sites like gofundme do not allow that.
