I have been in Spain since the beginning of July and have had no problems using my Santander debit card, up until yesterday it said that I am not able to take money out because I have reached my daily limit. Which is not true, I haven't taken money out of my bank in about a week. I tried to check my bank balance but it says this is not available with my card, keep in mind I am using my Santander debit card at a Santander branch atm so why wouldn't I be able to check it?
This past weekend, I had my phone stolen and my brother cancelled my phone for me in the UK because I had no way of contacting the bank, is there anyway my phone carrier, Vodafone would have contacted Santander assuming that my bank card was also stolen because my phone contract is connected to that bank account?
I have purchased items online today so the card is still working, it's just not allowing me to take money out from a cash machine. It's odd.

So what did Santander say when you called them and asked?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

I think this is something you will need to call your bank about.
I don't think anyone on here will be able to offer an answer or solution.0

I doubt it. Have you phoned the bank? Or emailed them, or logged onto your account and sent them a secure message, and checked the account looks OK?0

Does your username refer to the contents of your bank account?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Sounds like they've only just picked up on your change in spending pattern and have semi blocked the card. I've had this happen to me (with NatWest) I couldn't use the ATM but could still use the card for charging in shops etc. Just call Santander and they'll verify you are you and unblock itI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I don't know if anyone can advise me of cancelling cards however, I've recently been to Venice and booked a hotel whilst I was there. The payment came out of my bank. I later that day lost my debit card so clearly cancelled it. I've been home a week and today it appears the money is showing back in my account. Clearly Barclays believe that there has been fraud on my account. what will happen now? Will the hotel try to re-take the payment again? Confused as to what they will do.0

you may have to call them to arrange alternate payment if you do not want them to take the money out the same account0
