NCP Non Payment Declaration

Hello Moneysavers,
I parked in a NCP carpark today, our work has an agreement with them, so I can park for how many hours I like as long as I validate the ticket at work at a cost of £5.30. I lost the car parking ticket and so contacted the Customer Services to ask for an exception, that i had my work pass to prove where I work and was happy to show staff. They said no ticket, I have to pay £20 no exceptions. I didn't have £20, so argued the toss for 45mins meaning I was late to pick up my kids.
In the end I agreed to a non-payment declaration. I gave my name, email address and car reg. They read the t&c's and then asked if i agreed to the 'process' rather than the t&c's. This was over the speaker on the pay machine, nothing signed. They say I have to pay by tomorrow, I was going to offer them £5.30 the fee I would have paid when they ring me for payment tomorrow. They have emailed me this
Dear customer
Thank you for choosing to park with NCP. We’re sorry you were unable to pay for your parking at the time you exited our site.
The form we completed on your behalf is shown below for reference.
Next steps
You need to pay for your parking within one working day. You have two options:
1. You can ring our Customer Contact Centre on 0345 050 7080 and select option 5 to make payment. This is open 8am - 8pm Monday to Saturday. We will then call you back to take the payment.
2. Alternatively, we will call you in one working day on the telephone number you gave us to take the payment.
The bad news
We hope it won’t come to this, but if you don’t pay for your parking on time a Parking Charge Notice will be issued to the vehicle’s registered owner.
Please pay as soon as you can to avoid this.
Kind regards
NCP Customer Services
What would your advice be going forward?

If they are asking for another £5.30, given that you lost your ticket, I would be pragmatic and pay again. For such a small sum, it is just not worth the hassle.
If they want £20, and that is the published daily charge, then best to post up the wording on the sign.0 -
No they are wanting £20.00 a full day's rate. £5.30 is what we get charged by NCP, a reduced rate negotiated by our company. I'm just loathe to pay them £20 just for a lost ticket, plus they said if I do find the ticket they would not amend the charge retrospectively, because the t&c's state that any lost tickets will be charged at a full day's rate. Just think they are making money out of people's misfortune, when you have no choice as otherwise you can't exit the car park. I could also leave my car in there for any length of time, and still only pay £5.30 due to company's negotiated rate.0

Or slackness? It's your responsibility to look after the ticket and they tell you what the charge will be if you don't.
Your fault - pay up.0 -
If only all pay car parks were run like this i.e. no ticket/lost ticket = full daily rate, not £100.
Just pay the £20.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Thanks for the additional info.
I've got to say that if bazster recommends paying up, then with his renowned antagonism to PPCs and "militant" stance, I would heed his advice. Sometimes we have to take responsibility for our mistakes and bite the bullet.
Sorry I can't be of more help0 -
It's just pretty normal in my experience for lost tickets to be payable at the full daily rate in pay car parks. I'm a bit surprised that NCP is insisting on it in this case (it must've cost them more than that already just dealing with the matter), but really, is it worth fighting it?Je suis Charlie.0

op - is your firm's arrangement with ncp via some version of a white list?
There must be something recorded, beyond ticket, that confirms your entitlement to the reduced rate.
Can that not be consulted? Reconciling the £5.30 amount paid in this category wouldn't be onerous for ncp, surely?CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Thanks for all your help I do appreciate it. I know it's not a huge amount, I just felt with the agreement with work it would be good customer service in this case. You could call it 'slackness' I suppose, I'd call it misfortune as I've parked there for a long time and never lost it before. Tykesi, maybe you could give me some advice to overcome my slackness? I always put my parking ticket in the same place in my bag every single day, and on this occasion it must have fallen out.0
