Vent: Pearson/Edexcel

I recently put in a certificate request for a qualification I did through my company last year, via Pearson/Edexcel.
Pearson charged £50. And the wait was 9 days.
Turns out I am on the system but the grades hadn't been submitted by my company and so Pearson could not produce a certificate.
Fair enough.
However, they only refunded me £27!
Having had a previous job with access to the Pearson/Exdecel database, I know that it takes about 3 seconds to do a name search and see the grades. In fact, this was part of my job. And I did not charge £23 for each of the hundreds of times a week I did it.
I don't see how they can take so long and charge so much for this.
The reply included the phrase 'thoroughly searched our database' I assume to try and justify such a exorbitant charge, making it sound more than just typing in a name and pressing enter.

Take it up with the people who didn't submit your grade. They're the ones at fault, not edexcel.0

Indeed. However Pearson retaining nearly 50% of the fee after a very short check seems to be daylight robbery...0 -
Yep.
I know Pearson aren't responsible for the certificate.
My beef was that they charged £23 for a few clicks of a mouse - the very same thing I used to do many times a day in my old job, without charge.0
