Neff W5420X0GB washing machine motor question

My Neff W5420X0GB stopped working with the following LED sequence Start/Pause, 800, spin and ready flashing continuously.

The sequence indicates a motor fault. I have replaced the brushes but the fault code sequence still flashes.

I have sourced a potential replacement motor of the same spin speed from a Bosch machine which looks identical apart from the fact that my Neff has an extra pin on the connector which I'm guessing isn't just there for show.

Does anyone have sufficient knowledge (not just keyboard warrior opinions) to assist in identifying whether this motor would be a suitable swap?

Have you tried the manufacturers website? Bosch, Neff and Siemens are part of the same group and certainly Siemens have very detailed parts diagrams on their website. If you can decipher the drawings it may show the two parts as being the same/compatible.

After many hours of trawling I spotted a picture of a Bosch Logixx 7 machine whose control panel looked suspiciously similar to my Neff.

Did some research on the Bosch machine and found a thread with instructions on how to manually clear the fault code from the controller if it doesn't clear by itself. Applied this "fix" and all is now working with my original motor. :T

Just in case anyone ever stumbles across this thread searching for a solution to the reset error in future here's the solution...

As to resetting it once they have been replaced it should do it itself. But if not its as below.

Turn the appliance knob to the off or reset position, 12 oclock.
Turn the knob to the 6 oclock position.
Press and hold the spin button and while holding the spin button turn the knob to the 7 oclock position.
Continue holding the spin button for about 5 seconds then release the spin button and now turn the knob to off
When your turn it back on it should have cleared the error code.


Now why didn't I think of that?

Thanks for this. First link followed for this problem after changing my brushes and envisaging £££s for a repair when the fault was still showing.

Worked first time. Only difference being it was the Rinse Hold button on my machine, not Spin.
