Hi,
We would like to go to Alton Towers next week (family of 4, 2 little kids). What would be the least busy day to go?
Also, are we allowed to bring our lunches inside the park?
Thx.

as it's still the holidays all days will be busy. When it rains it will probably be a bit quieter but you will get wet.0

You are allowed your lunches inside the park.
As its the school hols then as the previous poster said every day will be busy - unless its chucking it down with rain!
How old are your children?
If I'm honest I dont think its fantastic for little children. Somewhere like Gullivers world is much better for smaller children and is much better value for money.
If there's only 2 of you with 2 children then its going to be a lot of queueing to go on the big rides - and if you aren't planning on going on the big rides yourselves then it really is not worth the money.
Drayton Manor is good for children too & you've got the added extra of the Zoo. I think Drayton Manor never seems to be very busy either so no long queues for rides.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

i agree about drayton manor for smaller kids. we love alton towers and there's a lot for young children but it's all very spread out and you can't do much in a day. we live nearby and have season passes so for us it doesn't matter that you can't get on much but if we were only going to go once in a year then drayton manor would be better.
how young are your children, and are you hoping to go on big rides yourselves? maybe other MSE'ers can give you tips as to which areas are best. there are 2 main kid areas but other things dotted around such as the teacups, pirate ship etc. which are a long walk from the other rides.
alton towers is great and has a lot of interesting rides but the queues can be too long for toddlers.'bad mothers club' member 13
