We chuck away barely anything, I'd say a couple of kilos a year...maximum.
I abhor wasting food, especially meat. An animal died for that.
Mrs. Wheezy is very good at menu planning and buying accordingly, so that helps also.

I am the same, I wish there was less packaging. I find the Uk really full on in plastic trays and plastic wrappers anything!

And I wish there was a facility at the supermarket where I could bring all that stuff back for better disposal.

    Freudian slip, or missing apostrophe?

As soon as the use by date has been reached we bin it. Am very fussy when it comes to food but there is generally not much thrown (aside from leftovers) as we tend to use them up before the dateline.

Our council will recycle plastic packaging so that is where it goes. I just wish our recycling was weekly.

I tend not to buy anything that is nearing its sell by date. With things like bread or cheese, its as soon as the corners go stale. ;)

I'd normally say very very little, everything possible goes in the freezer. Unfortunately a couple of weeks back my big freezer went off and i was a couple of weeks waiting for them to return with the part.
