Slatted Bed Base – Will This Fit?!

Does anyone know if the Ikea 'LEIRSUND
Slatted bed base' (king size) will fit a West Elm 'Mid Century' Acorn bed base (also king size)?

Or do they only fit Ikea beds?

I want to upgrade the rather cheap / standard slats the bed came with my bed base to improve comfort and also the lifespan of my mattress (the current slats are way too far apart).

The dimensions (L x W) seem to suggest the slatted base will fit but i'm concerned the Ikea slats are too deep for the bed frame - meaning they'll stick out the top of the bed base and be visible when the mattress is on top.

Here's a link to the bed base info:

And a link to the Ikea Slats info:

Will the two make for good (ahem) bed buddies?

Ikea bed sizes are usually "odd", I'd search the web for the exact sizes to check.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I have the Ikea leirsund base and it comes in two seperate parts and is designed to sit ona specific metal frame with a galvanised steel midbeam which is designed to take a lot of weight. I think your bed would need a lot of work to get them to fit.

Looking at the OP's bed base there is a midbeam there. If you don't live too far from IKEA why not buy them and see if they fit, then take them back if they don't work for you?

Thanks all - i've decided to go for perforated hardboard sheet on top of the original slats for now. It keeps the mattress from falling between the wide slats but also keeps it ventilated through the perf holes.

I've heard it's a good solution. I don't fancy 2 x trips to Ikea if these new slats don't fit and to be honest the mattress was not cheap (!) and comfort is not an issue at all.... just the wide slats potentially damaging it really.

    Thanks
