  • I've done a bit more investigation and the problem doesn't occur on chrome browser just is broken on firefox.

The problem javascript come from here:
    https://marketing.halifax-online.co.uk/halifaximages21/UL8J.html

However I found a better workaround which was then to block the above url with the adblock plugin.

You wait until the javascript CPUhog finishes then click on adblock icon select open blockable items and find the above url, right-click and select block item.

The real problem is the banks.

They should be forced to offer an interface with No Java, No Flash, No Pop-ups, No Third-Party dips, Nothing but the minimum required for secure transacting.

    Something MSE should campaign upon?

    Yes, I agree.
Especially since Tesco Bank *requires* Flash to get to the login page. And yet we keep hearing about how all the major web browesers will turn off support for Flash....

I like Tesco Bank, but I sadly think there will be a time where I just won't be able to login anymore. :(

had a customer in branch today with this issue on their IPADS and it was noticed they were using a app that wasnt halifax mobile banking, so it was deleted and re loaded and reregistered internet banking and it worked fine.

thought I would share..., pop into a branch and get them to reregister you.

I can get to that page, it's at this page (with the remainder of the URI obscured) that it wants to load the Flash component - I have FlashBlock and can see that I need to "click to play".
