Printer wont work now have windows 10...

hi,
Have upgraded from windows 8 to 10. My printer a Lexmark x1270 wasn't supposed to work with win 8 but it did, but with win 10 - tho the pc will communicate wiv printer and will scan - it now wont print. I have done a reinstall with cd (no change) and Lexmark has no updated drivers.
Don't really wont to go back to Win 8. Anyone any thoughts or ideas?
(TBH printer is a bit knackered so replacing it wouldn't be end of the world... so I suppose my second question would be can anyone recommend a cheap win 10 compatible printer?)

Excuse my stupidity but what is a Universal printer driver and where would I find it? (I have just used the printer driver cd that came wiv the printer up to now)0 -

It's on the Lexmark site, it lists all the Win 10 printers and then says click here if your printer isn't listed. You could try the win 7 driver too.0 -
