fantastic settup for money

I mentioned a few days ago that I bought a asrock z97 board and was happy with it , i3-4170 , win 10 etc , this is the board http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171875537230?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

now as he,s local to me , I was able to bargain well for a second one , paying just £50

why ITX ? why not , fits a std ATX case , and unless you have a need for extra PCI-e slots then the ITX is good enough , yup its got everything inc built in wireless card

bought a G3528 cpu ,(3.2g) yup that's the unlocked Pentium , £47 on the bay (new) , 120g ssd , 4x2g of memory and I,m running ,

strieght into settings and hit the "turbo" button , that is visible with a "k" processor , 3.5 , 3.8 , 4.2 , 4.4 or 4.5 gig

hickups at 4.5 , so is running at 4.4g

I have a hdmi splitter and a USB switch , so I can change from one machine to another with 2 clicks

the g3258 (4g memory) is blowing into the wind the i3-4170 (with 8 g memory)

only time I can see a reduction in performance is when converting multiple (30 min) tv progs from avi to mp4 , as its not got as many cores

very little difference in running temps

so if you want to upgrade an old slogger to a sata 6/usb 3 whistling setup for less than £100 , there is a suggestion for you

I have a gtx750ti (2g) vid card to go in later , and I will pick up 2 x 8 g ddr 1866 tomorrow .

    no that was an extra

considering the way that this forum has been timing out today , and I had to copy and paste that 3 times before it was accepted , punctuation was not the top of my list.

however I thank you for pointing this fact out to me

Looks interesting, Freddy. I always assumed knocking up your own would be too expensive.

well you can buy "tat" mass produced stuff or upgrade your own with just the parts YOU need ,

    z97 board ,

1 x usb 3 socket for you to add a usb 3 bkt in your old floppy drive bay , cost about £10 , as well as retaining your old usb 2 ports
on the back 2 x usb and 4 x usb 3 , built in wifi (a/c ) card with antenna on rear panel , this is fast !!!
5 x sata 6 ports on board , so you can upgrade as you need to
    vga/dvi/hdmi on rear panel .

yup you can buy a full system from ebuyer for £199 , but what is the quality?

    £100 for board and CPU , £39 for a 120 ssd and £30 for 4g of ddr3 1600 and you are flying ,

and before people start screaming about "you need a 700w PSU" , DO YOU?
having researched PSU requirements when building my last unit in a m350 case http://www.mini-itx.com/store/m350 with external PSU , a full setup g or smaller i3 (54w) uses a lot less than a vintage AMD

tickover under 30w , full blown about 85 watts
