Tumble Dryer Extended Warranty

With every dryer we've bought we always get an extended warranty and have tended to use it at least once. I've noticed that 3 year warranties are about £40 quid from the retailer and was wondering if that price can be matched or beaten by 3rd party extended warranties?
The Moneysavingexpert guide seems to indicate that £5.99 a month from Surewise is the cheapest but that's far more expensive.

Eh ? How is £5.99 far more expensive than £40 ????0

Pointless buying a three year warranty on a drier that may have two years warranty supplied by the manufacturer. For example, Bosch have a two year warranty, others may do too, or buy from JL and they give a two year warranty.
If you must buy a further extension, buy independently at expiry of the manufacturers warranty, as you will typically pay half the price charge by a retailer-who make a substantial part of their profits from flogging overpriced warranties.
White goods are generally very reliable, so you should not be needing repairs on a 3 year old drier with normal use unless you buy a rubbish budget brand. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

My mistake that should be £5.99 a monthPointless buying a three year warranty on a drier that may have two years warranty supplied by the manufacturer.
Yeah but unfortuntely the one I was looking at doesn'tor buy from JL and they give a two year warranty.
I just checked the site, they have a few condenser dryers in my price range with 2 year guarantees. Nice suggestion thanks. If you must buy a further extension, buy independently at expiry of the manufacturers warranty, as you will typically pay half the price charge by a retailer-who make a substantial part of their profits from flogging overpriced warranties.
Unless I'm missing something that doesn't seem to be true. I've seen 3 year ones from around £40 and Co-op are doing 5 years for £65White goods are generally very reliable, so you should not be needing repairs on a 3 year old drier with normal use unless you buy a rubbish budget brand.
I don't know what constitutes a rubbish budget Brand but our Candy has been repaired once already within warranty and has broken down again, it was the same thing with our last one too, I don't take chances when long warranties are under £100 quid.2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51

Co-Op are selling at near cost price then. Go to somewhere like DSG and you'll pay a lot more: they'll happily try to to flog you an extended warranty on a £20 toaster!
Yes, Candy/Hoover are a rubbish brand; why not pay £100 more and get something decent in the first place? £100 represents maybe as much 25\% of the cost of the item. I've had a Bosch condenser drier which is now 14 years old and has only needed a new pump (and then only after about 10 years). My main point was that you don't need to purchase such a warranty anyway (if at all) until the machine is out of manufacturer's warranty, which can be up to 5 years.
Typical white goods repair cost is around £70, so to make that warranty cost effective you'd only need to be paying no more than about £25 p.a for a three year cover. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Anyway with respect I'm not fielding opinions whether extended warranties are worthwhile I know they are if you don't get a long one from the manufacturer. I just wanted to find out if they can be had cheaper.2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51
