CAB rang me!

Lovely man by the name of Patrick Wilson (I think that's what he said - strong accent, very hard to understand) rang my mobile this evening.

Said he was ringing from the Citizen's Advice Bureau as they had been told I had unsecured debt and he could help me.

He had been given my number by the lovely people over at the Debt Relief Forum (whoever they are).

Bit confused though as he gave me his number as 2079 5348 911 but he rang me from 0777 802 9911.

Sadly, poor Patrick was unable to help as I don't have any unsecured debt.

    He wasn't from the CAB.
  • Speaks volumes about the honesty and integrity of these sales people.

Never trust anyone who cold-calls and the sooner that this is made illegal, the better....

No need, Google tells me that people using that number have also claimed to be from FSA, Consumer Advice Service, a credit agency, the Fraud Team, Government Advisory, tax investigations...
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I don't think you need to be from the CID to recognise a scam call .

  • It was a scam trying to get you to sign up to a dodgy debt relief company. And it would have cost you £thousands for their "advice"
Never take an unsolicited call as true by anyone claiming to be from CAB, Bank etc.

I had a call yesterday from somebody, saying they worked for a market research company working on behalf of CAB to gather information from people who'd used the service recently, in order to gauge customer satisfaction. The call showed on my phone as a private number.

    Anyway, I said No Thanks.
