You really couldnt make it up!

Son writes to tax office to see if he has overpaid any tax over the last few years as he has had periods out of work due to cancer treatment and periods of part time work when he was on agency.

After 6 weeks he gets a letter fro the tax office saying they

'need more information' and if he does not have his P60 from the year 2011/2012 to 'take this letter to the Jobcenter and ask them for details of how much you got in benefits' and 'Ask them if they took any tax, and how much'. When you have the information send it to us.

So he rings to ask if he can go into any jobcentre as he has moved away from the one he was signing on at. He gets told 'Yes, any will do'.

Today he goes to the Jobcenter to ask for the information and is told 'We cant give you the info, we used to be able to print it off but now we are not allowed. You will need to ring ESA on this number'

So he rings ESA on the number to be told 'We don't have that information, we will have to contact the tax office to get it then we will send it to you.'

So now he has to wait for the ESA to contact the tax office to get the information which the tax office want from him???????

When he gets the information from the ESA (after the tax office send it to them) he will then have to send it back to the tax office.

Then presumably he will have to wait for another few weeks before they ask for another lot of information which they must already have in the first place.

Surely if he has been taxed then the tax office should be aware of it anyway. Madness!!!!
