I read a case wherea driver was caught driving with no insurance, or licence. He got an £80 fine and a 2 year ban. considering the cost of insurance is in excess of £300, before even thinking about the cost of the licence, along with the fact, they dont ACTUALLY have a licence, it makes you wonder who is laughing at who here.

It's that kind of thing that makes no sense to me. Why ban someone from doing something they shouldn't be doing in the first place? It's like ordering a shoplifter not steal anything for the next two years. If they were going to respect that kind of sentencing then they would have respected the law in the first place.

Too right, the Law is a farce. BUt its cases like this that make you wonder why there are so many illegal drivers on the road, even if they get caught, they effectively get away with it, bear in mind these people dont actually have a consciounce when it comes to other people, how can we possibly answer the question they pose "Why should I?"!

  • The £48.50 test fee doesnt actually make the DSA very much, infact only a tiny tiny profit after everything has been taken out of it. They do however make a "stinking fortune" out of driving instructor test fees which are nearly £100.

Many pupils fail manouvres, but if they are taught properly, you shouldnt be having too many problems.

The manouvres are broken down and marked on only 2 things, control of the car, and observations.

So if you control the car by keeping it slow, not hitting the kerbs, showing you can use clutch control and steer it properly, you satisfy the control part,

If you make the correct relevant observations at the right times, and spot and road user you might effect, and react to it properly, then you will satisfy the marking criteria and pass no problems.

Its basically just a test to see if someone can drive without any help for 40 mins, some people fluke it, some people are plain unlucky.

keep trying, keep practising, youll pass next time

infact you have probably passed by now because this is an old thread!
