Student overdraft in 2008 and monthly charges

Hi, I hope someone can help. When I was at university in 2008, I had two student accounts with a overdraft of £1250 and £1,000. Two years ago I had to start paying around £30 a month and £26 a month for my charges(interest charges). I managed last week to claim back some charges on both of my accounts with the help of this site, I got £100 back on my each of my accounts. I want to know is there anything I can do, because paying these monthly charges are costly. I am trying to lower both of my overdrafts by making payments, but the charges are too much. Is there a way I can not pay these charges?
