Registration/Manufacture Date
I have found a car online that i am interested in, through an established dealer.
I have since looked up what the insurance would be on 3-4 of the leading brands, such as Churchill and Admiral.
My concern is around the 'manufacture' date stated, when i enter the car registration number on the insurance sites. It is currently on 57 plates and is advertised as Year of Reg 2008.
However; on the insurance sites the manufacture date is listed as 2014?
Is this common? Obviously i could do an HPI check, which according to the dealer the car has already 'HPI Clear'. I have e-mailed the dealer since, but just wanted some feedback through here first.
Thank you in advance to anybody who can help.

What does the DVLA show it as. It could be that the previous owner has transferred the reg to their new car and the dealer has not taken the plates off the old car. https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/0

Need not be a !!!!-up - date of first reg won't match the date of first use for used imports. My import shows as first registered 1992 but the V5 also notes date of first use is 1988, and is therefore on an E not a K plate. Vehicle checking sites show the car as both 1988 AND 1992 ("this 1988 car was registered on the x of y 1992") which is technically correct.0 -
Surely it's obvious whether it's a 2008 or a 2014 car? Once you know that then you'll know whether there's an error on the insurance sites (or wherever they get their data from) or if the car has plates from a previous year. If you can't work out which it is yourself post a link and we'll tell you.0
