Vent: ao.com - Appliances Online - not so reliable (imho)

Ordered a Fridge Freezer with Appliances Online (ao.com) on 22 July for delivery on 21 August, within a week was urged to buy Extended Warranty, and was not notified until 6 August it was actually out of stock and the order was cancelled.

From the T&C:

AO.com takes your money when you place the order but "...a legally binding contract [is only] formed" when "we place the product you have ordered onto the delivery van. Until then we can decline to supply the goods"

In that case, ao.com, would it not be recommendable to take my money only when you are sure you can actually deliver the item?

Thanks..
