Help needed on new car

Hi, I am looking to change my car and need help from all you petrol head car experts as I'm not remotely interested in cars except that they do what I want.

I have a 2013 Meriva at the moment which I love but the back seats fold into the floor instead of sliding up to the front seats like the old Meriva did. This means I can't put up a dog guard as I can't fit one across the back of the front seats due to me having short legs & seat pulled right up to steering wheel while OH has long legs and needs them right back (he is terminally ill and can't drive himself)
On the old Meriva I could fold up the squabs & push seats right up to front while the dog guard was still attached to the headrests of the back seats which made life dead simple. Push seats up, put dogs in & away.
I am looking for a car preferably no larger than meriva that has this seat configaration. Can anyone help please. I need to make my life simpler at the moment. Thanks

How about an older Meriva? If they suit your needs, then just get one of them.
  • Thanks, I did like the older Meriva but didn't want to go backwards in age of car and they stopped making them in 2010.

    Hi

Our Renault Scenic has both fold and slide action. You can fold backrest and then the seat too so that they're propped against the front seats but it also has a slide to adjust for legroom/ boot room

    Hope that helps
  • thank you. Not too familiar with the scenic, is it about the same size as a meriva ? That the configuration I am after but also need automatic.

Fair enough. I can't understand how a five year old car is a major problem, personally, as it'd be significantly more cost-effective to buy a 5yo Meriva than a new 'something or other else'; but each to their own.
  • basically because I want the remainder of the manufacturer's warranty as I will be on my own and know nothing about cars. I don 't want an older car that will be getting into repairs.

The Scenic is roughly the same size according to the internet. Ours is the Grand Scenic which has a larger boot but everything else should be the same
  • thank you. I have been told by a Renault salesman via phone that the seat don't slide up but ford up in half. I wanted one where they slid up so that the dog guard which is fastened to the back set headrests will simply stay in place as the seats slide forward. That's the configuatrtion on the od meriva & zafira but he said the scenic seats don't do that??
