My temperature light started coming on a while back and I took it to my garage I go to. he said their was no coolant i checked it the week before and there was plenty, anyway he felt some pipes and said my rad was cold, he said it might just be a blockage, water started filling the coolant tank but he topped it up anyway.

it has been fine for a month or 2 and its started coming on again. This morning as i turned the engine off i could hear a boiling noise i assume was the coolant, and the heaters where blowing hot cold hot cold.

I had my head gasket done maybe a little over a year ago as it went then. im at the end of my tether with this car and am hoping its just the cap seal or something cheap and simple.

Any help?

Could be anything from head gasket issues, split hoses, radiator leaks etc.

Is there a mayo like substance on the oil cap?

Take it to a garage for a proper investigation.

No mayo, but have read with this issue it can still be the head gasket and no mayo shows up.

Going to get a new cap for coolant tank in case the seal has worn and also going to put in a new thermostat £20 to eliminate 2 things. then if it doesn't make it better, I'll get it in a garage
