Car not fixed
Options
Hey everyone I've been having trouble with my car for a month now.
I've called a mechanic who promised me when he first seen the car it would be fixed by the end of the week.
Here I am 3 weeks later car still hasn't started and no parts have been changed. Now the estimated bill so far £500 + and the car still not going. As I said no parts have been changed.
Does this sound right to you? Do I have to pay if the car is not fixed by this Thursday because it's been 1 month then. I just feel they are taking the mick now.
Any advice?

what has the garage/mechanic advised you is wrong with the car? Have they given you an update at all? To have not changed any parts, tells me that they have not found the fault yet? Not all faults are easy to find, but 3 weeks.....
i would ask the garage for an updatePlan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].

So far he has come up with 4 things. Once he's dug deeper they have turned out now to be an issue. All electrical issues, now he's thinking the steering column is not the original. Not sure what's happening he just said it would be fixed by yesterday afternoon or by today.0

an electrical fault can be the hardest to find to be honest.
What make/model is the car? what is wrong with it? with a bit more info you should get some advice on here as to whether the mechanic is taking the mickey or not.
Im an aircraft engineer, sometimes electrical faults have taken months to find, let alone fix!!!Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].

This is how things will be as cars get increasingly more complicated year on year, and their economic lifespan lessens as a result.
Generally for difficult to diagnose faults a make specialist indy is the best place to go.0 -
I can understand the increased difficulty in cars as my father used to be a mechanic. I just feel that this long on a car is very long.
I'll explain the problem. The car will not start, all dash lights work and so does the windows and central locking. But it will not turn over.
The car is a 09 Clio 1.6petrol. The car has been stood for over 12 months ( started every time first time up until 3 months ago.
All relays checked.
Car recognised keys and allow it to start (light on dash confirms this)
Starter motor and fuel pump checked
Battery checked
Immobiliser checked.
Now they think it's w problem between the steering column and the ECU (I think)
The part numbers do not match on the steering column so he thinks it might of been involved in an attempted theft of the car or an accident and they changed the column. Once the battery died the car forgot the steering colum.
More night of been checked, but my dad is dealing with everything so I'm not entirely sure.
Thanks.0
