With tax credits, do you have to be officially members of the same household in order to do a joint claim, like be on the electoral register together? - Do you have to actually move in?
Also,
If you have a partner income to declare, can you have both of your addresses on the claim or just one?
Friend has asked. He's concerned, that while they do not share a house, they do spend time round each others currant homes, and is just wondering whether to declare it anyway? They some times make on line payments to one and other when one has paid for a meal out. - He's asked if this would be a 'financial link'?
There is no same household requirement for tax credits in legislation but it is one of the things they look at as part of the living together as husband and wife test.
