I won! But no prize and being ignored by company

Options
I'm just looking for advice on my situation, would be grateful of any input.

Back in May I won a twitter competition with Penguin Books. It was for a signed book - great, I thought! I provided my address and was told it would take a week or two to come. Anyway I've waited until now. I sent an email about a week ago to the person who had originally contacted me, very politely saying I'd not received and was chasing it up. Couple of days later, no response. So I DM'd penguin on twitter again politely just chasing it up. Again no response. I've now tweeted three times and emailed again to another email address at the company but am just being completely ignored.

It's not even that I've not received the prize, I understand mistakes happen. It's just that nobody is bothering to even respond to me. I'm unsure of what, if anything, I should do next?

Many thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to advise :)

if you've tweeted publicly then try their facebook, if all else fails send them a message to say that unfrotunately due to a lack of prize and lack of communication you feel you are left with no choice but to contact the ASA regarding this, it's not the avenue you would have chosen as you just want your prize but it's beginning to feel like your only option
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Maybe the person's on annual leave and nobody's got the job to check the accounts. Even now, in some organisations, the role's simply seen as "junior/unimportant" and everybody else will be busy too. Somebody books a 2 week summer holiday and stuff gets dropped.

Is the account active? Even if so, how much is it active?

Thanks for advice both. Yes I've already publicly tweeted three times to no avail. They're responding to lots of people's tweets so I'm sure they've seen them and are purposely ignoring. I can't get my head around why, surely a simple 'we'll look into it' wouldn't hurt. I've had a look at their Facebook page, although it's got 41k followers it's not very active so not sure I'd do much better there.

Will see if I get any response today and if not will send a message re: ASA.

Yes the account is pretty active, sharing numerous links a day but also responding to people's tweets. I've also emailed the person in charge if social media (didn't get an 'out of office' reply or anything) and have emailed the customer enquiries address for the company so I think they are seeing everything just not responding.

  • Penguin books is pretty big, send an enquiry about you prize copied in to every email address you can find on their website - worked for me once but they won't like it.

Its so frustrating when companies don't reply.. at all
In the end it has nothing to do with the prize more a case of the sheer frustration at being ignored.

Ive got something Im still waiting for on tw. Did originally have a nice DM message to say it would be going out the next day but a few days later we went on holiday so Im more concerned its gone missing. Can I get a response from them now ..not on your life

Thanks everyone. Yes it's exactly that lynwestie! Just the complete lack of response it's so frustrating!

Anyway, after no response again today I've sent a final email to the social media manager and cc'd the other email address from the company. I stated that I will be contacting the ASA if it's not dealt with in a timely and satisfactory manner...so we shall see!
