Does anyone know where to get a legit copy of XP for upgrading from ME purposes?
Don't want to have to buy any new kit to get it really cheap, but as cheaply as possible would be appreciated.

Try eBuyer or eBay.
Since you've got ME, Microsoft should really be paying you to upgrade!0 -
Thanks for that - any idea on price?
I'll e-mail them let you know what they say
Just been on eBuyer - do I need :-

You must be joking, £50 or £88 for an XP upgrade for what must be an old, outdated stystem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would seriously consider buying a base unit or even a second hand computer with XP installed.
Go to a computer fair and ask for an XP disk,I`m sure you`ll get one for about a tenner.(XP is now outdated by Vista)0 -
i saw it quite cheap on aria.co.uk not long ago (xp home)0

Would that be this one ?
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Software/Operating+Systems/Microsoft+XP+Home+OEM+SP2?productId=25139
It says for system builders only. Will that cause any problems?
Sorry - but I'm a bit thick when it comes to this.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Hi aria isn't loading for me but to be a system builder all you have to do is buy a fan or something cheap, cost about £2/3 and then you can buy XP normally an OEM version cheap. You don't have to fit the fan.You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

As I understand it, that disk in theory, will be linked forever to your PC once you activate via MS.It says for system builders only. Will that cause any problems?
If you were to build yourself a replacement PC in the future you would not be able to use that disk.
OEM is linked to PC.
Retail version is linked to person buying.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Thanks Spud and Skint - I'll grab a version and get it installed.
It's not even for me!!!:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
