While searching online for a local craft shop a panel popped up on my iPad declaring I had been selected to receive an Apple iPhone 6. The only button was OK, no option to close it, and safari was completely frozen, the rest of the screen grey. Forcing shut down and restarting had no effect. Googled it on my husband's laptop, the Apple forum I found said it was not a virus, but an equally malicious attempt to steal my identity. The only way to get rid of it is to go to settings, Safari, clear history and website data. NB the website I visited is apparently an innocent party and quite legitimate. Hope this helps if it happens to you.
