Not attending PIP appointment

My son receives DLA. now 16 so applied for PIP and awaiting appointment. Mine took 6 months so have no idea how long. I'm not sure I can bare to put him through a PIP assessment. I hated mine and I'm worried it could cause him extreme anxiety. I'd rather we do without the money than it affect him long term.
Question - if I tell them he cannot attend and withdraw the application is that it ? They won't " make " him attend as we have been getting DLA in the waiting period ? He only started to receive DLA last Sep - benefits is all new to me

If you do not attend the assessment they will stop your DLA to PIP transfer and your benefit will stop.
Would it be easier to have the assessment at home and in a comfortable environment?
If so, once you receive your appointment date you can contact them and ask them for a home appointment instead of travelling to one of their centres.
As long as you can give them enough valid reasons as to why you need a home appointment then it should be given.0 -

Thats a really good idea thank you ! Im definitely going to ask for one - im sure it will help my son feel more comfortable and less of a stressful situation even if they say no at the end of the dayStuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland
