Sky Customers - any deals adding BT Sport?

As a Sky subscriber with broadband through Sky I was wondering if anyone had had any success bartering with adding BT sport? I was a former subscriber of BT Sport and when I phoned to cancel the team were only too happy to let me go. doh!!!

  • By won't let sky handle Btsport sign-ups (you have to go through bt) so sky can't give you a deal on Btsport. If you are outwith your 12 months you might get a general retentions deal.

I've had no luck getting a deal from BT for the sports. If your already a subscriber then they seem to be more willing to give you a retentions deal but not for non subscribers like myself.
  • I got offered three months half price BT Sport upgrade from BT Lite the other day as part of a renegotiation of my phone/broadband package, which I declined.

I can wait until around Xmas/New Year before even thinking about whether I want to pay £5 a month for Champions League or FA Cup. They don't even get interesting until then.

Sky have nothing to do with BT Sport apart from allowing them to use the Sky Card.

Paying for card content access you mean. That activation fee isn't there for nothing. Sky charge BT and so then BT pass the charge onto the customer.

Except that any BT customer getting free BT Sport doesn't pay any sort of activation fee.

Just thought I would resuscitate this thread as I'm interested in getting a deal myself. Has anyone had any success?

Not sure poppasmurf is correct, BT customers pay an activation fee to watch BT Sport on Sky, obviously they don't pay Sky anything if you watch on BTTV , but BT pay Sky for the place on the Sky Guide and for the card administration for the appearance on Sky TV platform

I've had BT Sport Lite via Sky and on an app free since it's inception, and I've never paid a penny for it.

I also had the extra Sports channels last year, for which I paid £5 per month, but again I never paid an activation fee.

I've not renewed my subscription for the extra channels this year as I don't think they are worth the cost, and the AMC channel is, in my opinion, part time c**p.

Technically you could use a friends free BT account BT sports if they don't use it , they only ask for the card number from the sky box

Not sure how BT would feel about it if they managed to find out though

I have Sky TV and have BT Sport via the Sky TV platform and paid an activation fee ( £10 I think, it was over 3 years ago) ...on the website it shows an activation fee if you watch via Sky, if you didn't pay perhaps they forgot to bill you, or some sort of introductory offer, but in general an activation fee is paid, because there is 'activation' required, Sky don't authorise the card for nothing, same as they don't provide an appearance on the sky guide for nothing or supply carriage for the channels for nothing, BT could absorb this cost, incorporate it into the monthly charge but like most company's they make it a one off charge
