TV Licensing: Vent and Warning

You may want to set up re-direction of the post with RM from the holiday home to your main residence.
Just wanted to correct you on a minor point in your post that they could not issue a summons for having evidence of equipment capable of receiving a live TV signal is in use but rather they would require evidence of the equipment actually been used to watch (or record) live TV. For example it's perfectly legal to own a TV and use it for playing on a console or watching DVD's and not have a TV licence.
With regards the OP, ignore them.0 -

Agree with this."Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety". - Benjamin Franklin0 -
Your licence was not reinstated following your call to us on 3 July and I can appreciate your frustration at having to call us again on 6 August. I can reassure you that your licence was reinstated on 6 August and a letter was sent to you to confirm that the licence is correct and is valid until the end of May 2016."
Wonder when the next investigation letter will arrive?

Just curious really, but does that mean that your property was unlicensed between 3rd July and 6th August? That's potentially worthy of an investigation!0 -
They can't retrospectively investigate without a time machine, and if they have a working one I think we'll have bigger problems than Crapita/TVL!
Is there any chance OP that there's some sort of address mix up? Number 51a and 51b? Or Rose Cottage and Rosey Cottage? Even a new development that shares a similar road name? It just seems very strange that amount of problems you're having. Xxx0 -

No, it is that for some reason they cancelled my new licence the day I bought it apparently because I had made an enquiry about a refund for the old licence during the same phone call.
I started to receive the investigation letters despite emails and phone calls to them until they 'reinstated' the licence on August 6th they had previously incorrectly cancelled . So, daytona0, their actions actually made my licence appear invalid for that period hence the letters!!
However, all this time I held a copy of a licence valid at the address until May 2016 and had the payment evidence for £145 on 18th June.

You only commit an offence if you actually watch TV at an unlicensed property. If you've not visited the property then no offence can have been committed0

As the licence expires in May 2016 I'd say not. I don't believe they issue 9 month licences?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I have a feeling that holding a paper copy of the Licence is meaningless in these days of payment by installments. What counts (unfortunately) is what is on their database.
They are well known for their incompetence and much more besides. I submitted a 15-point complaint about them to the BBC Trust only today.0 -
TV licensing are criminals and you don't have to let them in. Don't open the door to TVL or confirm deny you are watching any TV, if at all.
The letters amount to harassment, threats but unless you cooperate with TVL, then they can do nothing. Just bin, burn the letters. Best to not even open them.
TVL criminals use big red writing and bold to scare people into paying up.
Why would anyone pay to support a dirty corrupt, biased BBC, that covered up the abuse and what jimmy savile did!Say No to smart meters!

How do you prove that? I have an analogue TV and DVD player in a holiday home (no set top box or proper aerial). The TV is in working order and would work with portable aerial but there isn't a signal to receive! There doesn't seem to be an option on their form to explain that!0
