    * a lie in. Sort of.
    * puppylove is still exhausted so less than usually annoying!

    2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Well hope everyone with A levels got what they needed.

    So proud of DH. His department's results were LEGENDARY! A blizzard of A*s, As and Bs. Yay for state education.

    A very spendy day but to save money I have
    * packed drinks, snacks and coffee for our morning out.
    * tipped the hairdresser with money I found in the car
    * avoided paying for parking
    * bought garden edging from B&M instead of the garden centre
    That's all I can think of!

    Some great results there. What does your husband teach?

    As for state education, I never thought a lot of it until looking into the best option for my son's first school. More or less since birth his name had been down on the list for him to attend my old prep school. However, he was very reluctant about school and we started looking into the two local village schools. We found our village school to be a really supportive environment for our son and one where every child is known as an individual (there's just under 30 children aged 4-11). Anyhow, to cut a long story short, we ended up choosing the village school where he will start in September. The whole experience so far has really started to change my views on state education. :)

  • Thanks greent. Good news for your DD.

    Alex I am all too aware it isn't perfect. We made the hard choice to remove ours from the village school/pre school system because this particular school was failing DD1 (they predicted her a 4a in Maths SATS. I knew she was a 5B on an average day since I had actually been teaching her some maths...
    Anyway it did one thing well, which was make them feel safe. So very important.

    DH teaches Law.

    Estate agent coming today to prepare the new listing. Unaccustomed as I am to housework...
