Hi SHS! Hope you had some wine with your friends - its still half term, yes? Sorry the offer didn't materialise though, but at least there's more action. It'll happen, just keep going xxx

  • Nice to see you, KC.

Rather too much wine and been up since 4.

I hope you are doing ok. If you find yourself on MMM check out the content of work emails thread. I laughed so much the children thought I was crying.

I haven't been onto MMM for ages - I'll have a look at that :)

I'm not bad, thanks - achey, glands swollen, blah blah. 12.5 weeks till the retirement date :):):)

There might be something to what the EA is saying, you know ...

  • I hope so...

With all that we are reviled in the press, and that if we meet someone at a party and they immediately say "long holidays and short days", I would like to go through MFW, DFW, OLD STYLE and probably more boards with a big highlighter pen marking all the teachers who are working in their holidays.

  • Dentist this morning (more spending) and I have promised DS we will look at steam cleaners.

Good grief, are there still people who believe that old chestnut? It was probably true when my mother was an infant teacher in the 1950s, maybe the 1960s ... it's many, many years out of date now. Sorry you're still getting lumbered with that SHS.

  • LOL. Dentist done. Morphy richards upright and handheld steam cleaner purchased and in use.

A little research done on a potential bungalow with 5 acres.

This afternoon there will be more steam cleaning, some pizza making and the unpacking of a vast AF order (which we tell the children is the online arm of Fortnums).

One of my good friends and I have very different views about some things, to the extent that we cannot talk about them. She (and her husband) believe teachers aren't worth the money and don't work long enough hours (they think teachers work far less than a 'standard' 40hour week) (most people I know technically work a 35/37.5 hour week) and have massively long holidays...... They also think that food banks don't need to exist and that people get enough/ too much money from benefits and that benefits are never stopped/ paid late......

I volunteer with families in crisis and my sister and her OH are secondary school teachers..... strangely enough, I don't share her views!!
