Painting the front door ad /or step if already painted or concrete that looks a bit worn are a great way to make the house look fresh again. Maybe a wreath on the front door, some lovely spring ideas on Pinterest. New numbers or name plaque and a couple of planters. If you have a front garden, mow the lawn and re edge it and a few new plants in the borders. Finally paint any gates or railings you have...house will look good as new!
  • strangely the pebble dash panel looks fab,,, I wouldn't have expected it too.. mind you the guy has taken so much care..

  • I tried to look at it as a stranger would. Our gates were broken, too expensive to repair as moving, so skipped. Figured broken gates were more noticeable than no gates.

I also picked up all our dropped apples as thought people would think that the trees equalled hard work (which they were) so every day cleared them.

  • There is so much to do...it is a bit overwhelming.
We did such a lot last year but clearly not enough, and some of it is now undone.
Plops out today and preparing for revision with y13 tomorrow.
  • Have a great HT, sounds like you are ready for the break :)

I am also very grateful for the evenings getting lighter.

Yes, although you didn't know him, it must be hard for the elderly when they lose siblings, it is the falling off the perch thing. Commiserations to your dad.

I used to be mistaken for the head a lot and I did dress the part. This year I have swapped my jackets for cardigans though, which seems to have made me invisible!

My eldest son was mistaken for a teacher by some year 7 students, he was a 6th former at the time....think it was the suit with waistcoat that convinced them.

Son was chuffed though, being a teacher is his career plan.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Done. And I am unscathed.
Relieved and simultaneously annoyed I didn't get to show off.

At youngest's old school they wanted to show off their differing needs provision, unfortunately, the inspectors wanted to talk to youngest despite the best efforts of the teachers to steer them away from him. Wouldn't normally be a problem except youngest does not like people, especially strangers and even worse, absolutely hated what had happened to his school (turned into an academy).

Not sure anyone was prepared for his very angry rant about how it was a horrible school and one that didn't follow the statemented provision he was supposed to get and was currently not receiving (he was statemented for 25 hours per week, he was at the time lucky if he got 1 hour a week).

Mind you, this is also the same son who corrected his English teacher (HOD!) after she used to wrong word, their instead of they're!
