At the end of the day it depends how you feel your new employers would take it. 5+ hours saved per week on commute time seems like a good reason to apply. If you don't get an interview then it won't matter but if you're offered one could you make a decision then?

Ouchie, SHS - difficult. But ljaneyr has said the bottom line - go with the application till you get to a dealbreaker ... such a drop in travel time is very precious.
Hope you enjoy this weekend tho - a good getaway, even tho its sad that you need it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
First time in here, hello!! :hello:
Will subscribe and have a proper read of your diary later, but weight loss and small holding caught my eye! High of my list to do!
Re the job, apply for it. You can tick that they don't contact your current employer until you are offered a job. They can take a reference from your previous place for now. If you've worked there before, if I'm reading your diary right, then they know you - do you have any indication why they didn't turn the temp into a perm before - if it was funding etc, then you know it's about that and not you. Could you have a conversation with the Head or someone else to gauge their thoughts on you applying?
I'd still apply, I know the timing is way off, but it would make a massive difference to your commute and life etc.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Thanks all and hello debtfreeoneday...I have a blog of the same name "smallholdingsister" you might like.
I haven't worked there but have interviewed there. In teaching interviews are very hard to keep secret, also there is a high chance they will take on an NQT who costs 10-15k less than me as their budget is dire.0 -

I would definitely apply,,,, I did the same and started my forever job in November (I hope), so still all very new and a lot to learn. I was only a year into my previous job when I left. But that was an escape route job. One of our leads ego was bruised that I chose to leave them after they had chosen me!!
I think you have to remember your loyalties are to you and your family. I does feel a bit strange having 3 jobs in 12 month period. But that will settle.
