Executor details

Hi, I'm asking this question on behalf of my neighbour who has some mental health/addiction issues, and is struggling to understand where he stands and what he can do in respect to the death of his Aunt.
He has asked me if I can help.
I'm pretty sure he hasn't given me the full picture, so I can only go on what he has told me.
His aunt died about 4 weeks ago, she had been living in a local care home and had quite severe dementia. She had written and lodged a will with her solicitors.
My neighbour believes he is a beneficiary in the will, but cannot find out who is the executor of the will, he has called his Aunt's solicitors who have told him they cannot tell him who the executor is, but did take his name, phone number and address.
Is the solicitor correct in not revealing the name of the executor? Or will my neighbour have to wait until the solicitor contacts him about the will, if he is a beneficiary?
Any clarity would be really helpful, thanks.

If your friend wants to contact the executor he should write to her last known address, addressing the letter to "The executors of (name)".
Once the will is proven (ie probate is granted) the identity of the executor (and indeed the Will) is public knowledge. Until then, they will regard any details about her will as confidentialFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
