How long should it take a DD to be refunded

Good morning,


I recently cancelled my gym membership and received confirmation that my last payment was due 1st of July but a payment was also taken by DD on 1st of August. I contacted my gym who have said that they will sort the refund of the DD. How long should I allow for this to be refunded before chasing the gym further.

Since you have asked the company for a refund, you should ask the company when they made the refund.

If you don't get any sense out of them, and as the August payment was an unauthorised payment, you can ask your bank to refund the payment under the DD guarantee.

You should also have cancelled the DD with your bank.

I'd suggest straight out contacting your bank and asking for a refund on the 'Amount not due' basis.

Your bank will then refund you within 24 hours and take it up with the gym themselves, saves you a load of work.
