O/S Daily Monday 10th August 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Now light, overcast and cloudy, humid too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, roasties, carrots, HG green beans, broccolli, peas, Yorkshires, stuffing and gravy. Tonight will be either fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg or pork steaks, buttered new potatoes, veg and gravy – the roast chicken was a bit of a cheat meal, as I bought frozen roast pots and read made Yorkshires – then just roasted a fresh chicken and did the veg – bought me extra time as we got home from hols Saturday teatime, so did some food shopping yesterday morning as also needed food for this week and packups.
Hols was lovely – although a long drive, but worth it – site was good and lovely area, made some good friends and lots of laughs. Managed to get the washing done and line dried yesterday too.

Back to work today for me, hoping to ease myself back into it!

Looks like another nice day in the making off to work for me and it will probably be a busy one.


Dinner tonight will be the leftover chicken from yesterday with mash and salad I need to get some tomatoes from work today, the spuds are already peeled they were picked from a friends garden on Friday morning so should be tasty.


Need to nip to the shop tonight and get washing powder, when we bought our machine we got 6 months free of liquid tabs with it, I have had a hell of a fight actually getting them but it would appear that they are on the way now, but I have completely run out so will need a small box to keep us going.


Got to post an ebay parcel tonight we did not have a good week this week and only made a tiny bit, not worth doing really but that's the chance you take.


Right better get on, have good days all xx

Morning all
Nmlc, nice to see you back.
Fish fed, hubby fed & dropped at work, I'm going about 9:30.
Plans are all being changed this week as hubby has volunteered me to give someone a lift to an interview on Wednesday when I was seeing one of the DGD's so I'll see her on Thursday & work longer today & not go in to work on Thursday, as long as I do my hours it won't matter when I do them.

Good Morning everyone, warm here but with wall to wall heavy cloud and a light gusty breeze, we're due some much needed rain later on so He Who Knows is already on the allotment lifting main crop potatoes, they are such a good size this year and with what he lifted yesterday we already have a sack full in storage. I'm using up the damaged ones, it's not possible to lift them without pronging the odd one with the fork. Had a couple last night as Jackets and the flavour is delish! Not a lot planned for today except a visit to a couple of garden centres to find some brassica plants, ours are looking most unhappy due to it being so dry, we think we'll be better trying to grow some in the garden rather than on the allotment so we can water them every day. Off to tidy the house, make the bed and have a shower.

Having a quick browse on here before getting some breakfast and getting ready to see the GP.

Washing is on the line and youngest dd is still asleep. They are taking me away for a few days on Wednesday as a birthday surprise/ difficult date of bad news. I should be back on Saturday and they are being mysterious as to what is planned- visit to historic house? Stonehenge? museum? theatre? Whatever it turns out to be it is lovely of them and so thoughtful.

Bright, sun keeps coming and going, quite a breeze somy laundry should dry. Monday clean day, OH is out planting the raspberries we bought last week. Still seem to have a lot of plants to go in.

Nice day yesterday, at DD2's for lunch, lamb steaks and roasted veg, strudel to follow. None of the children will be around today, they are all working,have herd from two of them and the grand children as well as a niece in Australia.

Weather looks like its going to be good again today so more washing to be done DD2 is coming home before she and I go away for the week on Thursday
Dinner will be chicken and chips will just add a chicken piece to the LO chicken so nice and easy

Good morning everyone :hello:

Woke up to the rain lashing against the window but it seems to have cheered up a little now. Grandchildren were dropped round early so that their mum could work and they are being very loud. I sent up the 4 year old to wake the girls so they are up too moaning and groaning but it's just tough .

DD12 will help me look after the grandchildren and the others will carry on painting DD14's room. I am in charge of snacks and drinks apparently :rotfl:.

I am going to cook faggots, cabbage and potatoes for tea. I haven't had them for months so I'm looking forward to them. The girls aren't so keen so I will grill them some sausages instead.

I am feeling a bit hurt that my sister from Wales came down to stay with my sister in the next town and didn't come over and see me or even give me a ring. If I did the same to her I would never hear the end of it but she can't be bothered to drive 15 mins and visit. It's hard because my Facebook is full of what they have been getting up to but I am just going to ignore all that and not show myself up. Families eh!

Anyway, the volume has gone up again so I will go and see what is going on, I think DD12 is teaching my 7 year old grand daughter card games so I will go and watch a film with my boy. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread hoping you dont mind me popping by
I'm laid up with the flu atm, thanks to my DS's for sharing. Its chicken noodle soup for tea tonight, nothing fancy couldnt be bothered, I'm thinking risotto tomorrow with the rest of the chicken, nice comfort food. Hubby has just got home from work and its tidying up and hopefully will bath the boys later.

Very warm again today. DH and I had a lovely day on the beach yesterday, we took a picnic and just lazed about.

I've finally got round to painting the two downstairs doors this morning and am about to hang out my second load of washing.

Chicken for tea tonight.
