Gooseberry question about pruning
Hi Everyone
I have inherited some really straggly and over grown gooseberry bushes (on an allotment) and I wanted to make a start on pruning them and resitting one or two of them.
Can anyone advise if this will do any long term harm as I appreciate I shouldn't be pruning until winter time.
Many thanks in advance.

As i understand it gooseberries grow on old wood as for resiting them, if they have finished fruiting I would probably move them now - as long as you take enough soil and water them in I would have thought they would be ok. If nothing else whilst it's still warm (I say warm;)) they will continue growing and give them more chance to survive. I would point out I am a novice allotmenteer, but following allotment pages on FB, no one has the same decision on anything!!0

It's best to move plants in the autumn/winter once the leaves have dropped and the plant has shut down.0

Thanks both - everything I've looked at suggests I should wait until the leaves have dropped - so thanks for your advice. I'm keen to make some space for some new things and make a start though.0
