I know this has been asked a million times but can somebody recommend a budget laptop for around £300?
My daughter has managed perfectly well with a Advent Quantum Q200 laptop running windows 7 for the past five years but unfortunately the hinges have now broken away and we've decided to get a new one. As this served the purpose for uni work and playing the odd "Sims" game,(so an optical drive is preferable) something of a similar spec. should be suitable.
She's been to PC world but they seem to want to sell her the most expensive ones, which would be more than she needs. So apart from the odd light game and surfing the web, her needs are not that great. She's not interested in the latest chrome books so an os running windows would be ideal.
Thanks in anticipation.

Good value here at £285, if you are OK with a refurb business grade laptop - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Thinkpad-Professional-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B0114TT2BI/ (Intel Core i5 2.50GHz, 8GB Memory, 120GB SSD, 14.1" Screen, DVD/RW)
Close to £1000 when new. Free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows Pro 7
This is the HP laptop I use day-in-day out and it's tough as old boots, £219 refub (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011GTSC1W). I know it takes Windows 10, as I upgraded mine

How about this, for £296?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MD-98476-i3-3120M-processor-Bluetooth/dp/B00GQUICIK/ref=sr_1_60?ie=UTF8&qid=1439151105&sr=8-60&keywords=Medion+laptop
I've owned several Medions, and always found them reliable, and reasonably priced.0 -

Poor value at £300.
This model is better value:
MEDION AKOYA E6241 Laptop (MD98892) as is this MEDION AKOYA P6653 Laptop (MD99024) with dedicated graphics.
But there is really no need to spend £3000 -
Thanks for all the above. Are there any makes to avoid and recommend, and any feedback on refurbished ones would be welcome as in the past I've only bought new (one laptop and two desktops in total).0

This Asus is rated the most popular non-Apple laptop on Amazon and was no.1 in PC Advisor's review of budget laptops last week.
Interestingly, Amazon sell the model with a 1TB HD nearly £100 cheaper than the model with 500GB.0 -
