for all you unhelpful negative commenters...just an update.
No I did not get £10, I got over £100 in vouchers and apology and a gigantic bouquet....consume my entire existence? not at all.
For those of you that were in any way constructive in your response - thank you! :-) I am unsure why the others of you wasted your time replying.0 -

Why? Because they didn't say what you wanted to hear?
OK, so you have pestered a large company into giving you a goodwill gesture to go away. That doesn't in any way mean you had any legal right to anything over and above a refund of the purchase price. Even that, had they chosen to fight, would have relied on you proving, on the balance of probabilities, that they were at fault which is by no means certain.
Still, as long as you are pleased with yourself.......0 -

I dunno - did manage once to get £70 from Tesco for a £1 bargain-bucket bucket handle breaking off in use. Though it might have been purely out of sympathy from the store manager to my (genuine) story that I didn't give a damn about the bucket, put would like some consideration for the cleaning of the carpet and having to watch a fair percentage of my homebrew cider end up on the floor ...

Whilst I appreciate this is not a story for the ten o'clock news, I am not going "to just throw it away and get on with my life"
