Hi mac25 and welcome.
Definitely switch straight away - that's a heck of a lot of money for an average house.
Hopefully, you've kept your bills for the past year from which you can accurately note what gas and electricity you used (in KWh is usually best). Armed with the figures, use Martin's advice article to compare various deals available to you. Note: check whether you can get cashback for switching before you commit yourself and if there's anything you don't understand, post again with the specific query. That way, you should find the best deal and get paid for doing something you wanted to do anyway. Here's a link to Martin's article: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricityDebt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

thank you, i ve got the last 3 gas bills, and the electricity is pretty easy to work out. I feel as though i,ve been paying my bills and the bills next door!.
i,ve been put off changing incase there,s hassle and problems, so i,ve stuck with BG while they have made so many increases, my own fault really.
thanks for the link i,ll get on to it straight away.0 -
i,ve switched!!!!!!! to Atlantic. used the comparison web cites . found out i could be saving just under 3 hundred pounds a year. plus 15 pounds cash back. now i will just have to wait and see if it works out okay.
however feels good to get rid of scottsh gas at last!:money:0 -
Brilliant news, mac. I did the same as you and put it off for ages, then got the courage up and found it was easy. Anyway, if you don't like Atlantic you can always switch to someone else. It's a bit like murder - the first one's the hardest!

On what figures do you calculate a £300 a year saving?
Have you used kWh prices on your annual consumption? Taken into account all discounts?0
