Switch supplier on new tenancy

I have just moved to a property and want to switch supplier from the off. Do I need to call the existing supplier and create an account and then try to switch, or can I just supply the initial readings on a switch website for a new supplier to use? Will the existing company be able to close the account without me first registering with them?

As soon as you moved in and used any fuel you automatically entered a deemed contract with the current supplier. You need to set up an account with the current supplier and at the same time you can start the switching process.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
