Barclays mobile banking app - new payees

This evening I received an update for my Barclays mobile banking app. The update allows new payees to be added from the app, prior to the update this needed to be done via the website using a card reader. Whilst this new feature could come in useful I do have some reservations about the possible security implicatations. It would be interesting to know what other readers think.
