Electric powered wheel chair

Hello
Can anyone recommend an Electric wheelchair that helps the pusher (me).
Hubby is unable to safely use electric scooter - we borrowed one at the Eden Project so this is a big no -no . he has a complicated medical history - brain tumour (seizures) to dementia - so its unsafe for him to be in-control of his own chair.
At the moment we limit going out -(House to car) he uses a stick but is waiting for a total knee replacement.
We have used a normal wheel chair that I push but by the end of the day. My back is in spasms and I need to take pain relief.
Have seen electric wheel chairs but they have controls for the sitter in the chair. not sure if the electric power can be adapted for the pusher.
So looking for any advice thank you for reading.

They are available but expensive, and vary in distance
range & weight of the 'pushed'.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Try asking at some mobility shops, local Red Cross and similar organisations... they may be able to show you what is available in the flesh or in catalogues.
They are certainly wheelchairs that have powered assistance for the 'pusher' out there I've seen them being used.
Some can be added to existing chairs... http://www.dlf-data.org.uk/products.php?groupid=1220&sortname0 -
Hello.. would you be able to transport a power chair in a wheelchair car? if so you can by attendant powerchairs with the controls at the back for you.
You coud also buy a power assist pack that attaches to a manual 'push type' chair.. these propel the chair a bit to save the pusher but you would still need to steer. we tried one and as my hubby is long egged it got in the way (hangs under the chair between wheels where his feet went) but i have friends who think they're great.
Perhaps ask for a referral to your wheelchair clinic by your GP.. they can check eligibility for an nhs chair. Or if you have a local center for independent living thye may have an OT you can book an appointment with for free.0 -
Thanks for reply's everybody. Will ask for referral to O.T/Gp . never thought of red cross. Thank you all x0

Contact the wheelchair service in your area for an assessment with their OT. There are some available where you can control it from behind, they just put the controls where you can use it.
Best wishes to you both.Loving the sunny days!0 -
