Late Payment - Lloyds - Ruined Credit Rating

Hi All,
Absolutley fuming about this!
I switched my bank account from Lloyds to Nationwide in November last year using the switch service. I had an overdraft of £150 at the time and paid in some extra money into the Lloyds account to clear it before the switch.
A couple of weeks later I received a letter from the Lloyds which stated I owe £20, so I tried to log into my Nationwide account to pay the amount using the supplied account number and sort code. It wouldn't accept the sort code and said it was invalid, so I tried to pay using my Lloyds account number and sort code but it kept being sent back, so I gave up.
A few weeks later I got another letter from Lloyds confirming my account was closed so thought nothing more about it.
I checked my credit file today because the fixed rate on my mortgage is about to expiry and will be looking to re-mortgage very soon and discovered my usual excellent/good credit rating said 'very poor'. Upon further investigation the Lloyds bank account is showing as an open account and there are 8 missed payments for £20!
I'm not really sure what to do. The Lloyds have not contaced me to say I owe this money and I'm quite prepared to pay it. Is there anything I can do to remove this late payment?

Fuming with yourself? Why didnt you check there was enough money in the account to cover your overdraft and payments leaving the account.
Speak to Lloyds, explain the confusion and ask for the late makers to be removed.0 -

If you feel that the missed/late payments on your credit report have been recorded incorrectly, you can contact the Credit Reference Agency (CRA) that you have your report with, they will be able to query the information directly with your lender so in your case Lloyds Bank, on your behalf.
If your report is provided by Experian you can contact us here, we'll be happy to help you with this one, otherwise if your report has been generated by a different CRA, I have listed their details below for you:

No, fuming that Lloyd's have registered late payments against my name without informing me. I did ensure that enough money was in my account to cover payments from my account and to clear my overdraft, but my account was a value-added account. Lloyd's added part-charges for the services I was entitled which I had no idea how much would be until the switch had taken place.0

Thanks for the reply James. I have emailed Lloyd's explaining my predicament and will update accordingly.0

I dont see that you have any cause for a complaint, there is multiple ways to make the payment on the letter, I've recently received the same letter, after switching and leaving an overdrawn balance on the account.
The fact you 'gave up' about sums up why you have the missed payments recorded, you could have phoned them to make the payment, or went in to a lloyds branch to make the payment.
As it stands you failed to make the payment, so the marks on your credit file are fully justified.
Lloyds did contact you about the overdue balance, and gave you multiple ways to pay it, to say they didn't contact you is an outright lie.0 -
It's the fact that I received no further correspondence from Lloyd's other than a letter stating my account was closed. Why state the account was closed when it wasn't? Why not send me a letter afterwards to say the balance was still outstanding? Why continue to register missed payments against me without letting me know?0

An immediate afterthought was sending a letter would be better. Thanks for the advice.0

Just to update the thread, I received a call this afternoon from Lloyds customer service.
They agreed that they should have done more to resolve this and admitted to only sending 2 letters. Long and short of it they cleared the outstanding £20, agreed to remove all late markers against the account and paid me £100 compensation!
Top marks from Lloyds :T0
