Santander Rejected my switch application

Hi everyone,
I recently applied to switch from my Nationwide current account to the Santander 123 account and got rejected. In the email I received (only seconds after submitting the application!) there was no given reason as to why I was rejected and they told me I would get more information via post in 3 working days. The letter came and it was just a printout of the email they had sent me. Now as far as I know my credit score is fine so I am a bit confused. I know that it is Santander's right to refuse anyone's application but should they not have given a reason for the rejection? As far as I know the check they performed on my credit score will bring it down and at the moment that has happened and I don't even know why!
I was wondering what my rights are in terms of them having to give me the reason they rejected me and if anyone knows if Santander even have an email I could use because as far as I can see on their website I have to either go to the branch or call them on an 0800 number!!
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

They don't have to give you the reason, but you can appeal:
[STRIKE]
>> Your application and credit scoring - Santander[/STRIKE]
>> Your application and credit scoring - Santander0 -
You have no 'rights' to any reason - in the same way as a bank has no 'rights' to be told why you don't want to have an account with them. If you insist on a reason they can give you a wooly answer such as that you don't match the customer profile they are looking for.
The impact on your credit score of the application is pretty much irrelevant, as no company will look at it when they assess you.
Your credit files will also not show that your application was unsuccessful. All it will show is a credit search, which will drop off your file in 6-12 months.
Calling them on an 0800 will cost you nothing, apart from your time, and you never know, they might invite you to apply again. But before you do that, have a look at your credit files, at least the one at noddle.co.uk, to see whether there is anything obvious that would put off lenders (such as defaults, wrong address, financial association, not on ER, markers)0 -
They don't have to give you the reason, but you can appeal:
>> Your application and credit scoring - Santander
MSE seem to prevent that link from opening, probably because it downloads a PDF, or because looks like a Google referral link.
The PDF is very informative and easy to find by googling "your application and credit scoring"0 -
This link has to work:
>> Your application and credit scoring - Santander0 -
Appeal, you have nothing to lose.
Point out to them your salary, that you have been a good customer with your previous bank etc.0 -
Thanks guys, I'll go down the appeal route then0

I would look on it as a lucky escape0
