Changing the lock on an up & over garage door

Guys,
the house we are hoping soon to buy, had a double width up and over garage door.
Alas there appears to be no key for it
Having never had an up and over door before, what are the logistics of removing the lock/and or handle, and replacing with a new one?
I'm hoping not too tricky, and hoping it is within the realms of a reasonable DIYer!
Also, if it's in the locked position, do you know if I would be able to unassemble it from the inside, so at least I can get the door open?? There is a working side door.
Cheers

i'm pretty sure you will find it no trouble at all, most of them are not exactly high security!
i changed one on a previous door no probs, and just took a look at my current one, also looks no prob.
obviously there are different types, just find a supplier ready for the big move, good luck. Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -
Thanks very much for your reply :-)
I will take a look this weekend - we have the keys, even though we haven't exchanged yet!
Many thanks for the good luck also,
Cheers

Hi,
This should be very easy.
I have done a couple.
Some garage locks now have a euro cylinder in them and changing this is very as you can unscrew the cylinder from inside and then replace it.
If it is a normal garage lock they arestill normally very easy to do and as soon as you look closely at it you will see how to change it .
Good luck with it0
