Dads computer, HP SR2125UK Windows Vista Home Premium, will allow you to log in and then it shows a blue screen. I have put it into safe mode with networking and when I attempted to update Avast anti virus I got the following message "The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error". I also got a message about another error "error 1608". His printer had a red light flashing and an "E" on it in recent weeks but I never got round to looking at it. The red light is still flashing on the printer and the E is still on it too. From what I have read online it seems these issues are connected but the problem is how do I get the computer working again?

I ran Malwarebytes and it removed five trojans from the registry.

Can anyone help?

I still cannot update the anti virus which expired on Wednesday this week, the same day that the computer stopped working.

    the symptoms are jumbled up

    the blue screen says what

    system restore from safe mode

if the issue continues and is related to avast, repair the installation in cp programs and features, or re-install it and re-register for another free year.

printer, look up the errors in the manual

backups are so easy nowadays, it's a shame more people don't do them ;)

The blue screen says nothing there is just a blue screen.

    Reinstalling Avast at the moment.

I don't know where the manual is but I will trry and get it sorted next week as I have a lot on this weekend.

He doesn't know how to do back ups so I must get that done next week too as it is long overdue but so is my own laptop.
