I have just had my phone bill and I have been really carefull using my phone to keep the bill down but it is over 50.00, on it there are the numbers:

09058560423
09050818086
09016550063
09012250008
it only dials them for a few seconds but sometimes 4 times a day so it adds up, Im with the Post Office for my phone.
I really dont know what to do, I dont vote on rip off numbers like big brother etc, so I dont think its these. Any help would be gratefully received,;)
Thankyou.

Do you have a PC modem connected to the phone line ?
If that PC is infected with a dialler it can do these sort of things.
Quick googling of the first number indicated a connection with an Amstrad emailer, and possibly a sky box ? Do you have any of those ?0 -

The ICSTIS number checker will tell you who the numbers belong too - though they all seem to belong to Interactive TV/Sky Active numbers for games etc.
You could disconnect your Sky box from the phone line (or there may be an option in the Sky box settings saying don't dial such numbers)
BT offer free premium rate barring on their lines, you may also want to see if the Post Office do anything similar.

Checked online it was for sky games.
I dont have my sky box connected to the telephone line but when i checked the date of the chrges it was a bank holiday and my nephew was around, and ive seen him on the games before, so he must of plugged it in as i wasnt in that day.0 -
After talking to my 8 year old son I have now discovered that he plays these sky games which he thought was free, HE suggested selling some of his toys and games at a bootsale or on ebay to pay for his part of the bill, (bless him) which I will take him up on as he has to learn!! (Hope that doesnt sound too harsh!)
Thankyou for your help.
And Im just off to unplug my phone line from my sky box!!I miss my mum every minute of every dayR.I.P xx

What was his reason for believing that they were free? If they fail to make it clear that there is a hefty charge, you might have grounds for asking Sky to refund at least some of the money.0 -

Sorry to hear that.
Who do you pay your line rental too/make calls via? If BT, they offer free premium rate barring on their lines which you may want to take them up on.
If its someone else, see if they offer the same facility.
It won't help you this time but should stop it happening in future - even if someone plugs in the sky box again..

Don't just unplug it, cut the wire off. I will save any trouble in the future.GONE ENGLAND0 -

Just take his toys away for a bit and let him have them back later, sounds like you have a nice kid there and he has learnt his lesson so don't be to hard on him.0
