Day 1 of 365

Good evening all!
I've been reading many posts on this forum over the last few months in the build up to declaring myself BR.
Well, today was the day it happened! I must say that it was probably one of the most straight forward things I have ever done! The staff at the court were really helpful, and the Judge was great too; even cracking one or two jokes in the process!
My only concern is that the Judge told me that the insolvency practitioner would contact me within a week or so, but the paperwork I got from the court said that I should report straight to them....
Has anyone else had to go straight to the IP, or do I just wait for them to contact me?
Many thanks,
Darren0901

The standard form 6.30 the court uses for the bankruptcy order used to say that you had to report to the Official Receiver immediately.
It was changed some years back to instead say "attend on the official receiver at such times, as the official receiver may reasonably require".
So I would guess that your court has forgotten to update and is using the old form wording?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi.
You are correct in what my form says so I will just wait for the OR to contact me.
Thanks again!0 -
Glad it went well, mine is 2 weeks today .
How long did you wait from your appointment time and how long were you with the judge for ?0 -
Well done. As long as all preparations are made in advance as you did it is quick and easy. Good luck

Cam, I rang the court On the 30th July and had a call back on Tuesday 4th August for a hearing on the 7th!
I arrived at court at 0900 to hand in my papers and money and was BR by 10:28!

It is quite a stress going BR, but did it in 2011 and don't regret it one bit.Darren0901 wrote: »Cam, I rang the court On the 30th July and had a call back on Tuesday 4th August for a hearing on the 7th!

I filled out the form on a Tuesday at 4.30pm in an accountants office and was declared BR 2 days later (Scotland does not have most BR going through a court as it saves money and is generally a waste of valuable court time; unless you have previous history of BR or have a company)
Looking at it now it was one of the best decisions of my life.0 -
Day 1 of 365 for me too. Or maybe Day 2 now since it happened yesterday at 10.20am for me. I echo what you said about the Court and Judge being fine. We did have our initial phone call from the OR though yesterday and she was not fine. In fact, she's scared the living daylights out of me and now I'm so worried about our interview a week on Monday its making me ill
Have you had your OR interview yet and if so, how did it go? What sorts of things do they ask? When looking at the climb in front of you, don't forget to look back once in a while and see how far you have come:j

Hi Daisy,
I'm literally sat waiting for the phone to ring, which it should do at 16:00 for my first interview with the Official Receiver.
He sounded ok when he rang to arrange the call so who knows what will happen. He did say the call could take about an hour so I'm all prepared with the paperwork etc.
Nothing has been mentioned about having a meeting with them....Why have you got to have a meeting?
TIA!0 -
Hi Darren, ours is a phone interview and we were also told it would take about an hour. I wish it was face to face, so she can see how genuine we are.
How did yours go?When looking at the climb in front of you, don't forget to look back once in a while and see how far you have come:j
