Hi
Got 7 years NCB with motorbike insurance but am planning to get a car shortly. Not all insurers will recognise NCB from motorcycle riding when taking out car insurance.
Anyone know of any insurers that do?
Thanks

Do you mind me asking how old you are?
The reason I ask is that I started riding a motorbike 3 years ago at the age of 36 and despite not having any bike no claims it still came in very cheap mostly because of my age I believe.
Therefore my advice would be if you are over 30 then jsut search for the cheapest premium.
If you do find a policy that takes account of your no claims there is no guarantee it will be cheaper, so just do a search as normal.
I have recently taken out my car insrurance with Lloyds TSB who are offering £120 cashback via quidco.
Given that my premium was £150 then I'm a happy bunny, so definitely worth looking at that as well.
So my advice is, just do the normal money saving things and don't get hung up on the no claims especially if you are into "old git" territory :-)
Only joking, but even at 36 I have found that my premiums are tiny compared with youngsters.0 -
Good advice from lisyloo. But as a "test" run I'd call a co at random and just ask them. If they will take into account the bike NCB good result, if they won't then you know where you stand.
I know that when I call up for 2 cars and a bike every year they ask how many vehicles in the household and make notes on our file how many yrs NCB are on each policy for each vehicle.
Also if you plan on going back to biking in the future it might be worth getting an old beat up scooter and insuring it just so you don't lose the NCB.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Are you going to be using the car and the bike?. If so, then Carole Nash have a policy - OMNI - that covers both.0

Also try e-bike insurance, they do combination policies, and therefore may recognise your bike NCB. As lisyloo says, it is probably an age thing, but I insure my bike through e-bike and I pay £105 a year, fully comp, for a Triumph Trophy 900.

I'm 49....half way through lol! Unfortunately stopping using motorbike and having to flog it so just going to be a car user. I use e-bike at the moment so might give them a buzz. Years ago Norwich Union used to specifically take into account NCB from bikes but it varies now. Going to do some ringing around but just wondered if anyone had changed and any specifica companies they went with...
Cheers for all the advice0 -
